I am writing this today because of a coworker. I work for a non-profit and I have been exchanging investing information with him for the past couple months. This is information everyone that qualifies should know about.
We were talking about his bills and how he could invest more so he will be able to retire someday with money to live on. He brought to my attention that he started school and took out loans but then dropped out due to life. He has been paying the standard repayment on these loans for six years while working at a non-profit company. I asked him if he had ever heard of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, in which he responded no.
I was baffled, how could no one ever have mentioned anything about this program to him over the last six years or while in school. I gave him the just of the program and printed off the employment verification form for him. You can find the form here.
He has been living paycheck to paycheck working for a great cause at barley over minimum wage for six years.
If you would like to learn more about the program here is a link.
If you know anyone that qualifies, please spread the word.
Information is king………..
